The Bride of Frankenstein (1935) starring Boris Karloff and Elsa Lanchester as the monsters is a classic sequel to the original, Frankenstein. The film, with its macabre, satirical, bizarre, farcical and surrealistic style, was produced by Carl Laemmle, Jr. and directed by horror master James Whale. In this sequel Dr. Frankenstein and his monster, both turn out to be alive, not killed as previously believed. Dr. Frankenstein, committed to abandoning the evil experiments, is forced to return to the laboratory when a mad scientist, Dr. Pretorius, kidnaps his wife. With much trepidation, Dr. Frankenstein agrees to help Dr. Pretorius create a new creature, a woman, to be the companion of the monster.
