Joseph Barbera and William Hanna founded Hanna-Barbera Productions in 1956. The two animators met while working for MGM Studios on the Tom & Jerry Series earning 7 Oscars and 14 nominations during their 17 year partnership at MGM. After leaving MGM and forming Hanna-Barbera Productions they produced hit series including The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Johnny Quest and Scooby-Doo. By 1970 Hanna-Barbera had become the most successful animation studio in the business. The Hanna-Barbera Studio was sold to Turner in 1991.
