Whether it was a natural phenomenon or a storm manifested by Yoda himself, Luke Skywalker?s X-wing starfighter crash landed into the swamps of Dagobah. Yoda foresees the future and he was certainly privy to Luke?s arrival on some level of consciousness. At this moment, Yoda is consciously realizing that the chosen one who will bring balance to the force is about to make his acquaintance. It is time to train Skywalker to become a Jedi (The Empire Strikes Back).
Behind Yoda is a more in-depth version of his swamp home with multiple rooms and levels. After inhabiting Dagobah for over two decades, Yoda would have had plenty of time to adapt aspects of his surroundings to meet his needs. For example, water levels would have varied from time to time in the swamps and the elevation of many of the rooms in his mud and tree homes would have helped Yoda to stay above the swamp sludge and the creatures that live in it.
